10th Annual Biohacking Conference Recap: Dave Asprey, Dr. Joe Dispenza, and the Future of Human Upgrade

The 10th Annual Biohacking Conference marked a decade of pushing the boundaries of human performance. Held in Dallas, Texas in June 2024, the event drew over 3,200 attendees and featured more than 100 brand partners spanning cutting-edge health technology, longevity science, and consciousness research. For anyone serious about optimizing their biology, this milestone event delivered on every level.

Dave Asprey's Big Announcement: Upgrade Health

Dave Asprey used the 10th anniversary as the launch pad for something he's been building toward for years — Upgrade Health, a platform designed to connect people with the tools, practitioners, and protocols needed to genuinely upgrade their biology. It's the culmination of the biohacking movement Dave helped create, now channeled into an accessible platform for practitioners and individuals alike.

Beyond the announcement, Dave continued doing what he does best: modeling radical openness to self-experimentation and presenting cutting-edge research in a format anyone can act on.

Keynote Highlights

Dr. Mercola opened conversations about the dangers of widespread stimulant dependency, sharing his personal decision to eliminate coffee and discussing the health implications of caffeine dependence at a population level. He also announced plans to open health clinics — a significant expansion of his work beyond the digital space.

Dr. Daniel Amen presented his BRIGHT MINDS framework, the result of decades of brain SPECT imaging research. BRIGHT MINDS is a mnemonic covering the major risk factors that damage brain function: Blood flow, Retirement/Aging, Inflammation, Genetics, Head trauma, Toxins, Mental health, Immunity/Infection, Neurohormone issues, Diabesity, and Sleep. His message was clear: most cognitive decline is not inevitable — it's preventable when you understand what's attacking your brain.

Dr. Joe Dispenza delivered one of the conference's most anticipated presentations, sharing data from thousands of brain scans and case studies that demonstrate measurable physiological change through meditation and elevated emotion. What makes Dr. Joe's work compelling at a biohacking conference is the scientific framing: this isn't philosophy, it's neuroscience. He walked through how sustained altered states change gene expression, immune function, and nervous system coherence.

The Tech Hall

The exhibitor hall showcased some of the most interesting emerging technologies in the health space:

  • Danger Coffee — Dave Asprey's mold-tested, mineral-remineralized coffee, designed to be genuinely clean and performance-enhancing rather than just a morning stimulant
  • WAVWatch — Wearable sound frequency therapy. John Bamber walked attendees through how specific sound frequencies can address inflammation, stress, and sleep when delivered through the wrist
  • Alitura Naturals — Andy Hnilo's skincare line built on whole-food, non-toxic ingredients, developed after his own injury and recovery journey
  • Ballancer Pro — Lymphatic compression therapy used by elite athletes and longevity clinics for recovery and detoxification
  • ZeroBody Cryo — A dry flotation bed with full-body temperature control, dropping to 38°F to trigger recovery, reduce cortisol, and improve sleep quality
  • Ammortal Chamber — One of the more distinctive experiences at the conference, the Ammortal Chamber uses a proprietary combination of technologies designed to alter cellular environment and support regenerative processes

Space Cowboy Dance Party

The evening event has become a conference tradition — and this year it included a twist that only a biohacking conference would think of: methylene blue in the drinks. Methylene blue is gaining traction in longevity circles for its mitochondrial support properties, and incorporating it into a social setting was a signature Dave Asprey move: functional fun. The DJ set closed out a full day of learning with a reminder that connection and joy are also health practices.

Reflections on a Decade

Ten years of the Biohacking Conference reflects how far the movement has come. What began as a niche conversation about optimizing personal performance has grown into a mainstream wellness movement that now intersects with medicine, neuroscience, longevity research, and consciousness exploration. The 10th annual felt less like a conference milestone and more like a launchpad — the conversation is just getting started.
