LifeWave's annual Share the Light Conference brought over 8,000 Brand Partners to Anaheim, CA in 2025 for a weekend packed with science, inspiration, and community. LifeWave is a life-technology company built around phototherapy patch technology and a core mission to help people Live Long, Live Well, and Live Young. I've attended for several years and came back from this one with more notes than ever — particularly around the latest research on cellular aging.
Here's what stood out.
Inspirational Speakers
Alison Levine, leader of the first American Women's Everest Expedition, opened the event with a talk on leadership under extreme conditions. Her story of climbing the world's highest peak — and overcoming serious health challenges along the way — challenged everyone in the room to rethink their limits.
David Schmidt, LifeWave's founder and CEO, is a real-life Tony Stark: holding over 200 patents and responsible for the breakthrough health and wellness innovations the company is built on. His main session delivered a deep dive into the science of cellular aging and what we can actually do about it.
We also got a private screening of the upcoming documentary Code of Creation, featuring David Schmidt, Veda Austin, and Gregg Braden, directed by Mikki Willis. The film explores David's discovery of Biblical codes that may be keys to longevity — if you're a fan of Gaia-style content, this one is worth watching.
And for entertainment: private concerts with The Doobie Brothers and Sir Elton John. Not a bad way to spend a weekend.
The Science of Cellular Aging
David shared the most comprehensive overview of cellular aging science I've heard at any conference. He identified ten signs that cells are aging:
- Dehydration at the cellular level
- Decrease in cell membrane potential
- Decrease in mitochondrial function
- Decrease in telomere length
- Decrease in collagen production
- Decrease in protein synthesis
- Decrease in detoxification
- Increase in oxidative stress
- Increase in inflammatory stress
- Change in gene expression
His core thesis: aging is the result of less energy and information being available in our bodies. Restore the energy and information present in youth, and you move toward a more youthful biological state.
Evidence-Based Interventions for Reversing Cellular Age
David covered a range of interventions with research support for reversing or slowing cellular aging:
- Calorie restriction/fasting — Demonstrated in humans to promote longevity
- Exercise — Boosts AMPK, autophagy, and mitochondrial health
- Acetyl-L-Carnitine + Lipoic Acid — Reverses age-related mitochondrial decay
- Oxytocin — Shown to rejuvenate muscle cells
- GHK-Cu — Resets thousands of genes back to a more youthful state
- Carnosine — Slows telomere shortening, extending lifespan (in vitro)
- Glutathione — Low levels associated with accelerated cellular aging
- NAD — Restoring NAD to youthful levels plays a role in age reversal
Supplement Spotlight: Astaxanthin
One supplement that came up repeatedly in the longevity conversation was astaxanthin — a red pigment found in marine animals like shrimp, crab, and salmon, as well as in microalgae.
Astaxanthin is a carotenoid with a unique molecular structure that lets it span cell membranes, providing broad-spectrum protection against oxidative damage. Research suggests it may be up to 6,000x more potent as an antioxidant than vitamin C. Studies have found benefits for cognitive function and neuroprotection, skin and eye health, and markers of metabolic health including insulin resistance, blood lipids, and blood pressure.
Clinical dosing in studies ranges from 4–12 mg, and safety reviews have found no concerns at these levels.
Final Thoughts
The Share the Light Conference is unlike most health conferences — it combines rigorous science with genuine community and a mission that goes beyond products. If you're interested in longevity and cellular health, it's worth putting on your radar.
