The second International Scientific Conference on Mind-Body Medicine brings international experts to Witten/Herdecke University, and online, to explore the biology, neuroscience and AI behind mind-body medicine and its links to health and longevity. Registration is free.
ISC-MBM 2026 is the second edition of an international conference on the science of mind-body medicine (MBM), hosted by the Institute for Integrative Health Care and Health Promotion (IGVF) at Witten/Herdecke University under the direction of Tobias Esch, M.D. It brings together experts from many disciplines to explore molecular mechanisms, neurobiological correlates, the use of artificial intelligence in MBM, and integrative approaches to holistic health, with a particular focus on how biological, psychological and behavioural processes relate to health and longevity.
Key topics include mind-body medicine interventions; mechanisms of action such as mitochondria and the microbiome; AI in mind-body medicine research; psychosomatics and the connection between mind and body; and the role of social connectedness and the health risks of loneliness. On-site pre-conference workshops cover mind-body medicine across care settings, listening as a resource in holistic healthcare, and AI and digitalisation in MBM.
The conference is held in English as a hybrid event: attend in person in the event hall of the university's wooden building in Witten, Germany, or join online. Registration is free of charge but required in advance.
