An annual conference addressing youth mental health across Africa and the diaspora, featuring research, clinical care models, and community-driven approaches.
The 9th Annual AGMHI Conference, themed "Youth Mental Health in Africa & the Diaspora," is hosted by the Africa Global Mental Health Institute (AGMHI), a partnership between the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Durban, South Africa) and Boston Medical Center / Boston University (Boston, USA).
The conference adopts a life-course and systems-oriented understanding of youth mental health spanning perinatal through young adult stages. Sessions highlight innovative, culturally grounded research, evidence-based clinical care models, policy discussions, and community-driven approaches including youth voices and traditional healing practices.
The conference is designed for psychiatrists, psychologists, neuroscientists, nurses, social workers, researchers, educators, policymakers, and individuals with lived experience.
The event takes place November 9-11, 2026 at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa in Mombasa, Kenya.
